VIDEO: Shakira releases her own unofficial track for 2014 World Cup in Brazil | SIDELINE
Nobody asked Shakira to write this summer's official World Cup anthem, and this apparently left her feeling more than a little left out.
Four years after penning "Waka Waka," the official song of the 2010 World Cup, the talented recording artist decided to record and release her own World Cup track anyway. It landed on the Internet over the weekend.
What she came up with is a song, called "Dare (La La La)," which actually comes from her recently released self-titled album. The Brazil 2014 version of the song is slightly different from the album version, featuring special World Cup-inspired lyrics.
Very little about "Dare" screams, "This is the freaking World Cup, so everybody get excited!!!"
Hopefully Pitbull will have something better to offer when his official World Cup track is released. This is what it's come to: hoping against all logic and history that Pitbull puts out a decent song to save our ears during the World Cup.
Whatever he comes up with, though, there's a 99.9 percent chance it won't be as good as K'Naan's "Wavin' Flag," the unofficial but infinitely better track of 2010 tournament.
