VIDEO: MLS Insider on LA Galaxy-Club Tijuana CONCACAF Champions League duel | SIDELINE
The LA Galaxy and Club Tijuana are set to do battle in the second leg of their CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal on Tuesday night (10 pm ET, Fox Sports 2/Galavision).
The Galaxy hold a slim 1-0 lead heading into the deciding match at Tijuana's Estadio Caliente.
And this week, the matchup — as well as the ongoing rivalry over players and fans alike between the the two clubs separated by less than three hours and an international border — is featured in the new edition of MLS Insider (above video).
This episode of MLS Insider explores the Galaxy-Xolos rivalry from every possible angle — players, front office, youth players, American players playing for Tijuana and even a number of American supporters of Club Tijuana known as the "Gringo Xolos."
Why, you ask, would an American living in an American city — San Diego, in this case — choose to support a team from Mexico? Allow Marty, the proud Gringo Xolo who travels south for every home match, to explain it to you.
Why, you ask, would a young American player who grew up in the Galaxy's youth system choose to jump ship and sign a professional contract with a team from Mexico instead? Allow Tijuana forward Paul Arriola to explain it to you.
What, you ask, are the Galaxy doing to combat Tijuana's encroachment on their territory, players and fans? Allow Galaxy president Chris Klein to explain it to you.
Galaxy-Xolos is an international rivalry unlike anything an MLS team has ever seen before, and after watching this episode of MLS Insider, it doesn't sound like things are going to be cooling down anytime soon.
