2014 Kicking + Screening film festival lineup revealed, featuring Zlatan Ibrahimovic documentary | SIDELINE
The featured lineup for the 2014 Kicking + Screening Soccer Film Festival was announced last Friday, and it's got just the right amount of World Cup and national pride flavor as Brazil 2014 rolls ever closer.
The sixth annual K+S festival, featuring 11 films from eight countries, will run April 8-11 at Tribeca Cinemas this year, taking all good soccer film fanatics right up to the two-months-to-go mark ahead of the World Cup.
Rise as One: One Nation will highlight how France's 1998 World Cup squad helped to heal the racial splits within their nation and sport. Rise as One: Match For Peace tells the story of an exhibition match between World Cup champions Brazil and war-torn Haiti that helped lift the spirits of the island nation during one of its darkest hours.
The Rise as One series is also set to make its television debut on Fox Sports 1 in the United States beginning March 25, so if New York City isn't an option for you, don't miss out then.
Also high on many footy filmgoers' lists will be an exclusive sneak peak of We Must Go, the feature documentary about American coach Bob Bradley's adventures as manager of the Egyptian national team.
There will also be a feature-length film about Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic. True Blue 2: The Way Back explains how a young Zlatan returned Malmö FF to the Swedish top division and went on to become the global superstar he is today.
