VIDEO: Nick Pugliese's journey to become first American pro player in Afghanistan | SIDELINE

Nick Pugliese went somewhere that not many are willing to go in today's world. And in doing so, he ended up living out a soccer dream.

Fresh off fininishing his college soccer career as captain at Williams College (Williamstown, Mass.) in the spring of 2012, the 23-year-old from Rochester, N.Y., moved to Kabul, Afghanistan, to take a job with a telecommunications company.

A few months later, he ended up going on trial for Ferozi FC of the Kabul Premier League. Pugliese signed for the capital city club, and in doing so, became the first American to play professional soccer in Afghanistan.

Pugliese has been widely covered since his professional soccer journey in Afghanistan began less than two years ago. Most recently, ESPN's Tom Rinaldi went to Kabul to meet with Pugliese, and to produce the above seven-minute feature story.

Pugliese regularly updates his Twitter followers from around the world, offering a brief glimpse inside his unique world, @FootballInKabul.
