VIDEO: Tour of Sao Paulo FC's training facility, USMNT's base for 2014 World Cup | SIDELINE
It seems as though the US national team hit the jackpot when U.S. Soccer chose São Paulo FC's "Barra Funda"
five-star vacation resort training facility as its home base for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Disclaimer: I've never looked around any other Brazilian club's training facility — either firsthand or digitally — but after watching the above video tour, it's probably pretty safe to assume that the São Paulo complex ranks near the top of the list.
"The facility itself is state of the art," USMNT head coach Jurgen Klinsmann proclaimed in the video. "Three beautiful fields, dorms, kitchen, huge gym, pool — everything you need to prepare a team in the best way possible, you find it at São Paulo FC."
The USMNT, currently at the São Paulo facility staging a "dry run" rehearsal for this summer's tournament with a squad that includes 25 of its 26 players coming from MLS rosters, fell 2-1 to its club hosts in a closed-door scrimmage last Friday and then won by the same score line in a second scrimmage on Monday.
After seeing the São Paulo facility, one fairly simple question comes to mind: Given the host country's vast riches, what will the USMNT camp set-up look like during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar?
