VIDEO: MLS Insider – featuring Eddie Johnson's career rebirth & the 2001 Miami Fusion | SIDELINE

MLS Insider returned to television screens on Friday night with its latest episode, featuring Seattle Sounders forward Eddie Johnson and Ray Hudson's 2001 Miami Fusion team.

Following an upbringing full of struggle in the small Florida city of Bunnell, Johnson attributes his staying on the straight and narrow to the care and discipline of his mother. This episode of Insider also explains how Johnson ended up on the soccer field instead of the basketball court, explores his rise as a rookie in Major League Soccer at the age of 17 and delves into his European struggles and career rebirth after returning to MLS.

The 2001 Fusion squad rightly receives a lot of plaudits for the attractive style of soccer they played, but their introducing of a pair of inexperienced rookies that would later go on to become two of the best at their position in MLS — Kyle Beckerman and Nick Rimando — shouldn't go unrecognized either. It really was about the "death by a hundred thousand passes" soccer that made that team special and enjoyable to watch, and look back on in this episode of MLS Insider.

As always, the entire series of MLS Insider is available right here on MLSsoccer.com.
