AMSTERDAM – The Danish Superliga finished up the season on Monday, with FC Nordsjælland midfielder Conor O'Brien netting the 1-0 winner over Esbjerg.

In the 33rd minute, the Long Island, N.Y., native (above) collected a poor clearance from away netminder Lukas Hradecky and promptly buried his first Wild Tigers goal from distance. The outgoing champs finished a clear second place to clinch their Champions league return.

NEW YORK – John Anthony Brooks is bound for the Bundesliga. He isn’t, however, headed for Turkey and the U-20 World Cup this summer.

US Under-20 national team head coach Tab Ramos has been following the 20-year-old center back for a few years – along with the player’s many admirers stateside – and flew to Germany in September for what he characterized as a positive meeting with Brooks to gauge his interest in representing the US.

As always, we name the squad based on relative league importance, meaning second-flight aces compete on level footing with their honor-division compatriots. Even so, it was those in the top flight that shined brightest this past campaign.
