Portland Timbers, Orlando City owners to attend MLS is Back Final in Orlando

Merritt Paulson and Flavio Augusto

If you still had any doubt about the magnitude of the MLS is Back Tournament Final presented by Wells Fargo on Tuesday night (8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN, ESPN Deportes in US; TSN, TVAS2 in Canada), the owner of each club will be on hand at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex to witness what they hope will be a championship for their club.

Portland's Merritt Paulson, owner and CEO of the club, had the farthest distance to travel, flying cross country on Tuesday to arrive in time for the match.

Paulson didn't hesitate to let Timbers supporters and players know that he'd be making the trek shortly after his team dispatched the Philadelphia Union in the semifinals.

Orlando City's Flavio Augusto da Silva, chairman and majority owner, will have the easier commute given he lives in Orlando.

Da Silva will be hoping to see his Orlando City side capture a historic first trophy since joining MLS in 2015, in addition to the Concacaf Champions League berth and prize money that are also earmarked for the victor.
