Pop-up Drive-in movie theaters have been cropping up across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic and now a few MLS teams are taking that concept to a different level.
New England Revolution
The New England Revolution were the first to announce they will be hosting drive-in watch parties on the Gillette Stadium field for the clubās MLS is Back Tournament matches. Fans will get to watch the matches from inside the stadium on the north and south end video boards while practicing social distancing.
Tickets are $40 per vehicle with all proceeds benefiting the United Negro College Fundās Virtual Walk for Education, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Boston Branch, and Special Olympics Massachusetts. Fans are asked to bring their own food and non-alcoholic beverages since concession stands will be closed.
San Jose Earthquakes
The San Jose Earthquakes will also be hosting watch parties, with the Quakes announcing their Group B opener against the Seattle Sounders on July 10 (10:30 pm ET | ESPN; TSN in Canada) will be broadcast at the 7UP Epicenter by Earthquakes Stadium and in the tailgate lot outside the venue. The rest of San Jose's group stage matches will be broadcast exclusively at the 7UP Epicenter.
Philadelphia Union
The Union are holding an 8am watch party for their opener against NYCFC on July 9.
Chicago Fire
Chicago Fire FC are also getting in on the action, announcing they'll be broadcasting their Group A opener against Nashville SC on July 8 (10:30 pm ET | ESPN; TSN in Canada) at their new home of Soldier Field.
