TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

The Houston Dynamo addressed a need for goalkeeping depth by signing Cody Cropper, the club announced Friday.

The 26-year-old spent the last four years with the New England Revolution where he made 36 regular season starts, 28 coming in 2017. He was out of contract with the Revs following the 2019 season. He will likely back up Marko Maric in 2020 for the Dynamo.

“Cody brings valuable MLS, European and National Team experience that will strengthen our goalkeeping corps and the squad as a whole as we prepare for the upcoming season,” Dynamo SVP and GM Matt Jordan said in a statement. “We believe that creating competition at every position on the roster is vital to a team’s success, and we are confident that Cody will continue to develop under our staff to help push us toward our goals for this season.”

Prior to joining the Revs, Cropper spent six years in England, making nine appearances with MK Dons in the English Championship after three years with Southampton in the Premier League. He began his time in England in the academy system of Championship side Ipswich Town, where he played from 2010-12.

Cropper has a total of 28 caps for US youth national teams.
