Danny Royer and Bradley Wright-Phillips scored in the second half to lift the New York Red Bulls over the New England Revolution, 2-0, on a rainy Saturday night at Red Bull Arena.
Royer broke the stalemate in the 69th minute with his fifth goal of the season, tapping in a free kick by Marc Rzatkowski at the back post after Claude Dielna fouled Tyler Adams.
The Red Bulls No. 99 scored career goal No. 99 as Wright-Phillips latched onto a perfect service by Kaku and headed past Matt Turner to double the Red Bulls lead in the 80th minute.
It was Wright-Phillips’ 13th goal of the season and Kaku’s league-leading 12th assist.
The Revs best chance came in the 36th minute when Diego Fagundez found space down the right and sent a dangerous ball just outside the six-yard box. But Luis Robles did well to deny Teal Bunbury from point-blank range.
