TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report

The Montreal Impact have featured one of the most porous defenses in MLS over the opening months of the 2018 season, and according to a local media report, the club may buttress the back line and deep midfield with a reinforcement from overseas.

RDS journalist and retired Impact player Patrick Leduc reported that Montreal have ā€œestablished contactā€ with French midfielder/defender Thomas Monconduit, captain of Ligue 1 side Amiens, with an eye towards a potential transfer.

Monconduit, 27, is a product of the Auxerre youth system who's been at the heart of one of French soccerā€™s most amazing stories of the past few years.

Led by resourceful manager Christophe Pelissier, Amiens have earned back-to-back promotions, rising from the third tier to Ligue 2 to midtable Ligue 1 side in just three seasons, with the club from northern France set to comfortably survive their first year in the top flight.

Monconduit appears capable of filling either a center-back slot or holding midfield role for the Impact, who have conceded an MLS-high 17 goals in their first seven games, going 2-5 to start 2018.
