Report: Colorado Rapids interested in English forward Billy Sharp

Billy Sharp - Sheffield United

The Colorado Rapids have made several signings from the British Isles this offseason, so could one more be in the offing?

That's the report from ESPN, with England-based writer Peter O'Rourke reporting on Friday that the Rapids "are interested" in Sheffield United forward Billy Sharp.

Sharp, 30, is an English-born striker, who has spent his entire career to date in his native country. He has played for eight teams in his career, but began his career at hometown side Sheffield United and is currently in his third stint at the club. Sharp scored 30 goals last season to help the Blades win promotion to the English Championship.

Of course, the team is also looking to push up for promotion to the Premier League this season, and the ESPN report says while Sheffield United may be reluctant to part with Sharp, the forward has appeared to fall down the pecking order in recent weeks.

So far this offseason, the Rapids have signed Scottish defender Danny Wilson, English midfielder Jack Price and English defender Tommy Smith, all from British teams.
