Report: Sounders among MLS teams interested in Colombian midfielder Roa

Andres Felipe Roa -- Rainbow -- Colombia

The Seattle Sounders are among the MLS teams interested in signing Colombian creative midfielder Andres Felipe Roa from Deportivo Cali, according to Seattle-based reporter and columnist Niko Moreno.

The 24-year-old Roa would add some young attacking depth for a Seattle team that, despite reaching MLS Cup for a second consecutive season, were a bit inconsistent up front at times.

In attacking midfield, where Roa would figure in, Nicolas Lodeiro fell a bit short of the lofty standards he set in 2016, though that was partly offset by the mid-season arrival and late-season production of Victor Rodriguez.

At forward, Jordan Morris endured a sophomore slump compounded by a hamstring injury in the run-up to the playoffs. And although Clint Dempsey returned from a heart issue to score a team-leading 12 goals over 29 appearances, he turns 35 years old during Week 2 of the 2018 season.

Roa has been a regular contributor in each of his three seasons at Deportivo Cali, which last won a Colombian league title during the 2015 Apertura. But he's coming off a season-low one league goal in 2017, after hitting nine across the previous two seasons.

Roa also made three appearances Colombia at the 2016 Olympic Games, where they were beaten in the quarterfinals by hosts Brazil.
