Update, Apr. 26: Chicharito's agent, Eduardo Hernandez, commented in response to the report that there is interest in his client, but no formal offer of $10 million per year has yet been made for the Mexican international by MLS.

LAFC are making “significant progress” in their talks to land Mexican national team star Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, according to Metro's Kristian Dyer.

Dyer reported on Saturday during MSG’s broadcast of the New York Red Bulls2-0 win against Columbus Crew SC that the 2018 expansion side is working on a deal that would make Chicharito the “highest salaried player in MLS history.” The contract could reportedly pay the 28-year-old Bayer Leverkusen striker more than $10 million per season.

Chicharito has 46 goals in 90 career appearances with Mexico, but has struggled for playing time recently with Leverkusen, making his first Bundesliga start in six weeks on Saturday.
