Pairings, hosting scenarios announced for opening rounds of US Open Cup

U.S. Open Cup Trophy

US Soccer announced the pairings and hosting scenarios for the opening rounds of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup on Wednesday, with MLS-affiliated USL teams learning their potential opponents for their opening matches of the tournament.

Professional teams owned or otherwise controlled by MLS clubs are excluded from the Open Cup, but USL affiliates of MLS clubs can participate in the tournament. Those teams will begin Open Cup play in the second round on May 16 and 17.

MLS clubs will enter the Open Cup in the fourth round, which is slated to begin on June 14.

The list of potential second round match-ups for USL clubs affiliated with MLS teams is below.

Hosting scenarios were determined by a random selection process conducted by US Soccer among clubs that have applied to host matches and whose venues meet the minimum tournament requirements. The full draw for the first round and hosting scenarios for the second round can be found here.
