Preseason match streams


Today's four-match slate features NYCFC taking on South American powers Emelec in a match that will be streamed from Ecuador tonight at 8 pm ET. DC United are also facing international opposition in Swedish side Jönköpings Sodra IF in a match that will be streamed at 4 pm ET. The Colorado Rapids and FC Dallas kick off the action with matches earlier in the day.

Howard Webb to head up VAR


A familiar face for international soccer fans will be working on this side of the pond as former English Premier League and World Cup referee Howard Webb was hired by the Professional Referee Organization to head up efforts to implement video replay via the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) program that is currently being used in MLS preseason. Zakuani calls time on comeback


Citing the fact that he wouldn't be ready to contribute for a few months, former Seattle standout Steve Zakuani has ended his preseason comeback attempt. The 29-year-old unselfishly stepped aside so he would not take a roster spot away from a Sounder who could hit the ground running when they open their season at Houston on March 4.
