Real Salt Lake Midfielder Albert Rusnák Voted Alcatel MLS Player of the Week
NEW YORK
(Tuesday, April 11, 2017)
– Real Salt Lake midfielder Albert Rusnák was voted the Alcatel MLS Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for the sixth week of the 2017 MLS season.
Rusnák helped RSL capture its first victory of the season when he recorded a goal and two assists in a 3-0 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday. The 22-year-old Designated Player now has one goal on the season, while his three assists this year rank tied for third league wide. With the victory, RSL improved to 1-3-2 and sits in eighth place in the Western Conference standings with five points.  
The Slovakia National Team member opened his MLS account with a goal in the 54
th
minute to push Real Salt Lake ahead 1-0. In wintry conditions and battling snow on the field, Rusnák dribbled into the box and beat a defender with a fake attempt at goal before squeezing a shot just inside near post past goalkeeper David Ousted (

Rusnák would then assist on Yura Movsisyan’s 74

minute goal with a tremendous long-range pass from midfield, setting Movsisyan up to extend RSL’s lead to 2-0 (

). RSL would then take a 3-0 lead in the 78

minute when Rusnák sent a corner kick into the middle of the box where midfielder Luke Mulholland put the ball into the back of net (

Real Salt Lake returns to action this Saturday, April 15 when it travels to take on Rocky Mountain Cup rival Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (9 p.m. ET, MLS LIVE).
