Montreal Impact goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau won’t have to wait until the MLS preseason to get himself ready for the 2017 campaign. Instead, the young keeper will be receiving some valuable first-hand knowledge and training abroad.

The Montreal Impact announced on Wednesday that Crépeau, 22, will join Belgium first division side KV Kortrijk for a two-week training stint, starting on Jan. 21.

It won’t be the first time Crépeau has been exposed to the European environment as he’s completed training stints with different European clubs over the last two years, first in Italy with Bologna FC 1909 and then with Germany’s Fortuna Düsseldorf U-23 team.

The training has paid dividends for Crépeau he made his senior debut with the Canadian national team last year in a 1-0 loss to the United States on Feb. 5. The goalkeeper has spent the last four MLS seasons with Montreal after joining the Impact Academy in 2010.
