Report: Arena to hire four ex-Galaxy assistants for US national team staff

Bruce Arena, Dave Sarachan and Pat Noonan - 12/14/16

Bruce Arena is filling out his US men’s national team coaching staff with some familiar faces.

ESPN’s Taylor Twellman reported on Wednesday that Arena will hire former LA Galaxy assistants Dave Sarachan, Matt Reis, Pat Noonan and Kenny Arena as USMNT assistants.

The entire group has been together since before the start of the 2014 season, when Reis and Kenny Arena, Bruce’s son, joined the Galaxy staff. Noonan had been an assistant in LA since 2013, while Sarachan – who served under Arena with D.C. United and the USMNT from 1997-2002 – had been with the Galaxy since 2008.

LA announced on Tuesday that Curt Onalfo will take over as head coach for Arena, who left LA last month to take over the USMNT gig. The Galaxy have not yet announced who will be on Onalfo’s staff.
