Minnesota United - groundbreaking shovels

MLS expansion side Minnesota United held a groundbreaking ceremony on their new stadium on Monday.

The stadium, to be located in St. Paul's Snelling-Midway neighborhood, is a $150 million project and is expected to be complete in 2018.

Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber was on hand for the groundbreaking ceremony, as was St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman.

Members of Minnesota United's supporters groups were also in attendance at the groundbreaking, which took place in wintry conditions Monday afternoon.

Minnesota United will enter MLS in 2017 and will play games at the University of Minnesota's TCF Bank Stadium next year.
