Jurgen Klinsmann gives thanks to US supporters, players in farewell video

Jurgen Klinsmann claps vs. Belgium

Jurgen Klinsmann's time as US national team head coach has come to an end before he expected, but that does not mean that he is leaving the post with bitter feelings.

Klinsmann issued a statement through a video on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, the same day that it was revealed that Bruce Arena was replacing the German as US head coach. Klinsmann was officially fired from both the coaching job and technical director position on Monday.

"I just simply want to say thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you for an amazing ride over the last 5 1/2 years," said Klinsmann in the video. "It's been an amazing experience. It's been a huge, huge honor to lead the national team over that amount of time. We've had some amazing experiences together.

"It's come to an end. Obviously, you've got to respect that. I just want to say thank you so much, especially to our fans, the American Outlaws, which grew unbelievably over the last years, having now chapters all over the place and getting bigger and bigger."

Appointed head coach of the US in Summer 2011 and previously extended through the 2018 World Cup, Klinsmann also took time to thank the members of the team, as they attempt to qualify for the illustrious tournament without him next year.

"A very, very special thank you, I want to say, to all of the players," Klinsmann said. "The response from them yesterday when the news came out is overwhelming. All the text messages, all the calls I received from the players of support is very emotional for me and I really, really appreciate it and I just wish them the best of luck.
