The Portland Timbers were left extremely frustrated by the 1-1 home draw against guests Saprissa that sealed their CONCACAF Champions League group stage elimination on Wednesday night.


A high note


Sporting Kansas City bowed out of the Champions League with a 3-1 rally win over visiting Central FC, which was fueled by star showings from some unexpected protagonists.

It came as no surprise, but FC Dallas table-setter Mauro Diaz underwent successful Achilles surgery on Wednesday. As such, he will not be in uniform tonight when FCD try to seal advancement to the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals against Guatemalan hosts Suchitepéquez (8 pm ET on Facebook).


Returning hero


Colorado Rapids midfield ace Jermaine Jones is nearly ready to return from injury to give them a playoff boost. The Rapids will try to head into the playoffs with the No. 1 overall seed on Decision Day when they host Houston (4 pm ET, MLS LIVE).


Drogba dinged


Montreal star striker Didier Drogba missed training on Tuesday, reportedly due to back pain. His availability for Sunday's Decision Day regular season finale at New England (4 pm ET, MLS LIVE).
