Who's the hottest team in MLS? Sounders at top, East quartet close behind

Osvaldo Alonso - Seattle Sounders - celebrating a goal vs. Vancouver

If you’re reading this article, chances are you already know that Seattle Sounders FC are the hottest team in all of Major League Soccer.

The Sounders have been on an unholy tear since they replaced Sigi Schmid with Brian Schmetzer and Nicolas Lodeiro made his debut concurrently at the end of the July, posting a 7-1-3 record in their last 11 matches to erase a hefty deficit and climb all the way up to fifth in the Western Conference.

Seattle also have the best record in the league since the start of September, going 4-0-1 – including ripping off four-straight wins – since the start of last month.

Of course, the Sounders aren’t the only team heating up as we approach the postseason. A few teams in the East – D.C., New England and both New York clubs – are currently flying high, while some of their conference counterparts – Orlando and Philadelphia, to name a couple – are struggling to the finish.

The table below outlines the full form picture for all 20 clubs. Now we’ll see who stays hot over the final three weeks of the regular season.
