Playoff Scenarios: Chicago Fire could be eliminated on Wednesday night

Every team is still alive in the Audi 2016 MLS Cup Playoff hunt, but that could change on Wednesday.


The Chicago Fire could become the first team eliminated should they lose to the Seattle Sounders (10:30 pm ET; MLS LIVE) and other results go against them. The Fire currently sit 10 points behind D.C. United, who are just above the red line in the No. 6 spot in the Eastern Conference.


Chicago Fire will be eliminated from playoff consideration IF

  • Chicago Fire lose vs. Seattle Sounders FC on Wednesday AND
  • Montreal Impact win vs. San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday AND
  • D.C. United win vs. Columbus Crew SC on Wednesday

  • Chicago Fire lose vs. Seattle Sounders FC on Wednesday AND
  • Montreal Impact tie vs. San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday AND
  • D.C. United win vs. Columbus Crew SC on Wednesday AND
  • Orlando City SC win vs. Toronto FC on Wednesday
