MLS Fantasy Rewind: Kelyn Rowe's outburst paces the pack in Round 29

Kelyn Rowe - New England Revolution - dribbles forward vs. the Montreal Impact

MLS Fantasy managers this past round needed to just "Rowe" their boats to victory.

Maybe to celebrate afterward, managers went out and got some sushi with salmon "Rowe" on top. If you wanted a front "Rowe" seat in the Round 29 train then you needed to -- you guessed it -- captain New England Revolution's Kelyn Rowe ($9.8).

It was a bit of a redemption week for fantasy darlings who haven’t performed to expectations lately. Rowe and his brace were good for top player on the week, the brace his first goal production since Round 14. He narrowly beat out Ola Kamara ($8.9) who also had a brace and a 1- point performance -- his best mark since the 19-point hat trick in Round 12 that grabbed the attention of managers everywhere.

Columbus Crew SC had a four goal celebration against Orlando City which also saw Ethan Finlay ($10.9) make the round’s Dream Team with his best performance since Round 23.

Toronto FC’s thrilling 3-3 draw with the New York Red Bulls put three players on the Dream Team. Bradley Wright-Phillips ($12.1), Michael Bradley ($10.6) and Jozy Altidore ($9.7) all made it, the first time making the XI for the two Toronto players but the sixth time for currently en fuego Wright-Phillips.

The rest of the Dream Team is as follows:

The average for the round was a respectable 53, but Tim Dickson and his Strong-Side team finished with 109 points, taking home top score honors. He got there by captaining Wright-Phillips and starting Ola Kamara, as well as getting solid performances from the likes of Maxi Urruti ($8.9) and Razvan Cocis ($6.9). Enjoy your prize!

Coming in for a Landing

We're coming up on the last few weeks of MLS Fantasy Manager here. Welcome to all those who are joining us from the MLS Fantasy Red Line Challenge, here’s what you need to keep in mind this round and the next:

  • Transfer deadline for Round 30 is Friday, September 23rd at 8:00 pm ET
  • Every team is in action, but next round eight teams play twice.
  • The eight teams on a double next round are: Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew, D.C. United, Montreal Impact, Orlando City, San Jose Earthquakes, Seattle Sounders and Toronto FC
  • Keep those teams in mind when making transfers this week, and also keep an eye on the Injury Report.

The other thing to keep in mind looking forward to the weeks ahead is the unlimited transfers of Round 33. Start loading up for next round’s doubles, then keep loading up in the next window. Round 32 is going to be a doozy, with only four games and only six teams in action. Of the teams on a double in round 31, the Fire, Crew, Sounders, and Earthquakes will also play in round 32.

Personally, I’m gonna bet the house on those four squads, trying to jump a few spots in my leagues before this is all over. Will it pay off? Time will tell.
