Kick Off: Watch the US Open Cup final tonight | 'Caps can advance in CCL

Here is everything you need to know about MLS and North American soccer this morning:

Trophy time

The Lamar Hunt US Open Cup final has arrived, with favorites FC Dallas set to host New England in Tuesday night's battle for all the marbles (10 pm ET on ESPN2, UDN, MLS LIVE in Canada). Armchair Analyst Matt Doyle believes the recent tactical changes made by the Revolution gives them fair shot at an upset, regardless of whether or not strike star Kei Kamara is fit to play.

CCL resumes in KC

The Vancouver Whitecaps have a chance to be the first team to reach the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals. All they need to do is win on Tuesday night's visit to Sporting KC (8 pm ET on facebook.com).

Honor rolls

The suddenly resurgent New England Revolution were the only team to place two field players on our MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week, while participation in a pair of high-scoring games saw Orlando City dominate the MLS Fantasy Manager best XI.

It's about that time again

We will start unveiling this year's 24 Under 24 ranking next week, but for now take a gander at the shortlist of players up for the list.

Return to the field

LA Galaxy striker Gyasi Zardes says he'll be back from injury in time to have postseason impact.

Happy Landon

While US boss Jurgen Klinsmann says it was pretty "cool" to see Landon Donovan back on the field for the LA Galaxy, The Guardian noted how his comeback is typical in American sports.

Red menace

FourFourTwo has noticed that Supporters' Shield chasers Toronto FC are no longer a one-trick pony reliant on Sebastian Giovinco.

Wing men

Gonzalo Veron and new boy Daniel Royer are drawing kudos for their impressive displays in the Red Bulls' weekend draw with D.C. United.

Lending a hand

Two-time MLS Referee of the Year finalist and former FIFA referee Terry Vaughn has been diagnosed with Huntington's disease and the soccer community is rallying in a drive to raise funds for his medical expenses.

Popular destination

Legia Warsaw's CEO let slip in an interview that the club aimed to lure free agent striker Miroslav Klose, but were out of luck because he's already signed a pre-deal with a mystery Major League Soccer club. Meanwhile, AC Milan's Japan playmaker Keisuke Honda has reportedly spurned offers from Sunderland and Celta Vigo because his heart is set on MLS, with the LA Galaxy and New York City FC mentioned as potential landing spots. Also, veteran Hapoel Beer Sheva and Israel midfielder Maharan Radi is reportedly headed for MLS in January.

Belief system

OKC Energy owner Bob Funk, whose team plays in the USL, is looking at Kansas City as inspiration in his quest to bring MLS to Oklahoma.

Team building

It's still early, but American Soccer Now's Brian Sciaretta has offered up his picks for the 23 USMNT players that should be tabbed by coach Jurgen Klinsmann for the first two rounds of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying hexagonal in November.

Top dog

After guiding the Terriers to an unbeaten start and the top of the table through six matches, Huddersfield Town's German-American manager David Wagner was awarded the Championship Manager of the Month prize for August.
