A victory would have clinched a playoff spot for FC Dallas, but an early second-half goal by Colorado Rapids forward Dominique Badji instead pinned Dallas with its first home loss of 2016, also ending a four-game winless streak for the Rapids.
Badji's 52nd minute strike gave the Rapids a 1-0 victory at Toyota Stadium Saturday night, halting FC Dallas' march to the Supporters Shield and pulling the Rapids within five points of FCD, holding two games in hand.
Dallas (15-8-6) still lead MLS with 51 points and 1.76 points per game. Colorado (12-5-10), who spent most of the summer in first place overall, are now on 46 points.

- FORT BREACHED: It's been more than a year since FC Dallas lost an MLS league game at Toyota Stadium. That was Aug. 15, 2015, when they fell to the LA Galaxy, 2-1. They went a total of 19 league games (15-0-4) without losing in Frisco, a team record that included a 10-0-4 mark to open this season.
- HE COULDN'T SAVE THEM: Statistically, FC Dallas dominated, holding the ball 63.8 percent of the time, compared to 36.2 percent for Colorado. And they forced Rapids goalkeeper Tim Howard to make seven saves. Their own goalkeeper, Chris Seitz, didn't make a single save. That's right, Dallas outshot Colorado 17-6 overall and 7-1 as far as shots on target. Sometimes, it only takes one.
- WERE THEY LOOKING AHEAD? FC Dallas is playing Tuesday the Final of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, against the New England Revolution. And they opted not to start Mauro Diaz and Michael Barrios, although they brought both in as substitutes. Were they saving their legs for Tuesday night?
