Arsenal, Germany star Mesut Ozil loves LA, sees MLS as "option" in future

Mesut Ozil loves the sunshine and bright lights of Los Angeles, and might just seek a way to play his soccer there some day.

The superstar let that juicy detail slip during a recent conversation with German publication Express about his current contract status with English powerhouse Arsenal FC, though this is one story where the “someday” part should definitely get emphasis.

The 2014 World Cup winner appears to be in no hurry to leave the North London giants, who have him under contract until 2018 and would like to extend his deal.

But when the 27-year-old playmaker – who rose to prominence in his homeland with Schalke 04 and Werder Bremen before reaching the bright lights of Real Madrid – looks further into the distant future, Major League Soccer is in the mix.

“In football, you can never say never. You don't know what will happen. I had a good time in Germany. That was a lot of fun,” Ozil said.

“Eventually [MLS] could be an option. I have fun everywhere. My fans know that I like to spend my vacation in Los Angeles, because the city inspires me.”

Ozil had to miss out on Arsenal's preseason trip to California to take part in the 2016 MLS All-Star Game as he rested in the wake of Germany's European Championship campaign. But the Golden State has clearly captured his imagination nonetheless.
