Vincy Heat, Reggae Boyz and Rake n' Scrape: The best nicknames in CONCACAF

Jamaica fans - flags and celebrations

We’ve only got a few hours until the US national team resumes World Cup qualifying with a match at Saint Vincent and the Grenadines – or, as they’re more fondly referred to, Vincy Heat.

While they don’t have the soccer pedigree as some of the bigger nations in CONCACAF, St. Vincent and the Grenadines do continue the Caribbean tradition of excellent nicknames for national soccer teams.

You can check out a pretty comprehensive list of national team nicknames here. We’ve picked out a few of our favorites from CONCACAF below:

Bahamas – Rake n’ Scrape Boys

The Bahamas don’t exactly have the best record in international soccer, but what they do have is arguably the best nickname in world soccer. What's a Rake n' Scrape, you ask? It's a musical style specific to the island.

British Virgin Islands – Nature Boyz

Ric Flair's favorite national team. WOO!

Grenada – Spice Boyz

This nickname is Posh, Sporty and Scary. Not as much Ginger or Baby. Still good though.

St. Kitts and Nevis – Sugar Boys

Not quite as nice as the Spice Boyz – maybe it's the 's' instead of a 'z' – but Saint Kitts and Nevis’ “Sugar Boys” nickname is still… sweet. I'll show myself out.

Jamaica – Reggae Boyz

This is probably the one nickname on this list that you already knew, but there's no way you don't crack a smile every time you see or hear it. The Reggae Boyz have a big one Friday night, as they need at least a draw – and more likely a win – at Panama to have any hope of advancing to the Hexagonal.
