Heineken Rivalry Week 2 kicks into full gear when the New York Red Bulls and New England Revolution renew their I-95 rivalry in a crucial Eastern Conference contest Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium before an ESPN audience. The Red Bulls are undefeated now in their last eight league matches, returning home off a 2-2 draw at D.C. United last Sunday, entering the weekend tied for third in the East. The Revolution are winless in their last five matches, snapping a four-game losing slide in a scoreless draw at the San Jose Earthquakes at midweek that left them two points below the red line in the conference table heading into the weekend play.

  • The teams are meeting for the second time this season. Diego Fagundez scored the game’s only goal in the 55th minute to lead the Revolution to victory, April 1 at Gillette Stadium. The home team has won each of the last five meetings in league play (New England winning three).
  • When the Revolution defeated the Red Bulls 2-1 at Red Bull Arena in the first leg of the 2014 Eastern Conference Championship, it was their first win of any sort in New Jersey since 2007, ending a 10-game winless streak there in all competitions.
  • When the Red Bulls won 2-0 in Foxborough on June 8, 2014, it was the first for New York in New England since 2002. The Revolution had won 13 of 19 meetings in league and MLS Cup play since that previous New York win.
  • Bradley Wright-Phillips collected a goal and added an assist as the Red Bulls extended their current undefeated streak to eight matches in a 2-2 draw at D.C. United on Sunday afternoon. Wright-Phillips now has 15 goals, sitting in third place in the MLS Golden Boot standings; he is one of four players in MLS history to reach the 15-goal mark in three or more consecutive seasons.

  • The game's only goal was shrouded in controversy. With Red Bulls fullback Kemar Lawrence on the turf with an apparent injury in the middle of the field, Revolution midfielder Scott Caldwell played a ball over the top to Juan Agudelo, who hit a square pass in the box to an open Diego Fagundez, who made no mistake from the heart of the area. Lawrence was immediately substituted from the game following the goal.
  • The Red Bulls finished the game a man down when Felipe was given a straight red card with a half-hour remaining following a challenge on Kelyn Rowe in midfield.
