Report: Chelsea offer Matt Miazga to Sunderland on year-long loan

Matt Miazga - Chelsea - 2016

Chelsea have reportedly offered US national team center back Matt Miazga to fellow English Premier League club Sunderland on a season-long loan.

The Guardian reported on Thursday that Miazga has been offered to Sunderland, who have reportedly accepted a transfer offer from Watford for center back Younes Kaboul.

Miazga moved to Chelsea from the New York Red Bulls in January. The 21-year-old made two EPL appearances for the club last year, but new manager Antonio Conte indicated over the summer that Miazga could be sent out on loan this year.

“He’s a young player, he has a good technique and I think that he is working very well under the physical aspect, but the tactical aspect he can improve a lot and I think that he is improving with his work,” Conte said ahead of a preseason friendly in Minneapolis.

Sunderland recently acquired fellow center backs Paddy McNair and Papy Djilobodji.

Miazga was reported earlier this summer to be nearing a loan deal with Eintracht Frankfurt, but that report later petered out.
