Report: USMNT finalizing October friendly against Ghana at RFK Stadium

USMNT celebrate John Brooks goal against Ghan

The US men’s national team is close to finalizing a friendly against old friend Ghana on Oct. 11 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C., according to ESPN FC’s Doug McIntyre.

The match would come four days after the US’s friendly against Cuba in Havana on Oct. 7.

The US have met Ghana in the last three World Cups, with the Black Stars beating the US in both sides’ final group-stage match in 2006 in Germany to prevent the Americans from advancing to the knockout round. Ghana got the better of the US again in 2010, topping the US after extra time in the Round of 16 in South Africa.

The Americans got a bit of revenge at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, getting a late goal from center back John Brooks to beat the African nation, 2-1, in the group-stage opener.

The US will next play in September, when they’ll visit St. Vincent and the Grenadines (Sept. 2) before hosting Trinidad and Tobago (Sept. 6) in World Cup qualifying action.
