Top-four EPL finishes "never enough" for Arsenal, says Arsene Wenger

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Arsene Wenger knows better than anyone that the only thing that will satisfy Arsenal's fanbase is a Premier League title, especially after the club's supporters watched unfancied Leicester City lift the trophy in May.

Following a 2-1 win on Thursday night in the AT&T MLS All-Star Game, the Arsenal manager tackled what has become an inevitable question over the past decade. Are top-four finishes and UEFA Champions League qualification enough for a club with Arsenal's stature and trophy ambitions?

“It’s never enough no matter what," Wenger told reporters during his postgame press conference. "I personally believe that no matter what you do it’s never enough. But you have to give absolutely everything to take the best out of the team. Where will our best be? I believe that we know what we have to do because we were second last year. We had 19 teams behind us.

"It’s a big ask when you look at the Premier League, every club is hugely ambitious. And when you look at the checks that everybody signs, it’s quite scary, but that is [what] the Premier League is about at the moment.”

Arsenal continue their US tour with a stop in Los Angeles on Sunday, where they'll face Chivas de Guadalajara. The Gunners open their 2016/17 season against Liverpool on August 14.
