July 17, 2016 ā€¢ Week 19 ā€¢ MLS Game #197
5 pm ET (ESPN, TSN, RDS, MLS LIVE)

A meeting of high-fliers in the Eastern Conference is ahead when the Montreal Impact play host to New York City FC on Sunday afternoon at Stade Saputo before an ESPN audience. The Impact return home sitting in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, their undefeated streak now at six matches following a 1-1 draw at the Portland Timbers at midweek. NYCFC sit atop the Eastern Conference, leading by one point, though their four-game winning run was put to an end last time out in a 3-1 loss at Sporting Kansas City last weekend.

  • Harry Shipp netted his first goal for the Impact in their 1-1 draw at Real Salt Lake that began a two-game West swing. Shipp, who came over from the Chicago Fire in a trade before the start of the season, had three assists coming into the game, two coming in the opening two games of the season.
  • Frank Lampard scored for a second consecutive game ā€“ and for a fourth time in the last five matches ā€“ but NYCFC saw their club-record four-game winning run put to an end in a 3-1 loss at Sporting Kansas City on Sunday evening at Childrenā€™s Mercy Park.
  • The teams are meeting for a second time this season. MontrĆ©alā€™s Dominic Oduro scored in stoppage time, after NYCFCā€™s R.J. Allen netted earlier in the second half, leaving the teams in a 1-1 draw April 27 at Yankee Stadium.
  • The teams met three times in NYCFCā€™s inaugural season, and the expansion side won the season series. NYCFC was the only team to win at home, taking a 3-1 win at Yankee Stadium on June 13. Each team won on the otherā€™s ground, NYCFC winning 2-1 at Stade Saputo on July 4, and the Impact returning the favor with a 3-2 win on Aug. 1 in The Bronx.
