Whitecaps forward Kekuta Manneh undergoes surgery on his foot

Vancouver Whitecaps announced Friday afternoon that forward Kekuta Mannehunderwent surgery Friday morning to repair a broken fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot. The team did not give a timetable for his return to action, though head coach Carl Robinson indicated he could be back with the team this season.


ā€œKekuta is an important member of the club and weā€™re happy to hear the surgery went well,ā€  Robinson said. ā€œWe anticipate he will make a complete recovery and will be back training with the group in the fall."


The 21-year-old was injured last Saturday in Vancouver's 2-2 draw with the Colorado Rapids


In 17 appearances with the Whitecaps this season, Manneh has five goals and two assists. In his four-year career, he has 98 MLS regular season appearances with the club, and has scored 22 goals, with 12 assists.
