Leicester's Christian Fuchs plans to play in New York in 2 years' time

Christian Fuchs - Leicester City

Christian Fuchs is an Austrian international, and a central cog in the Leicester City squad that stunned the planet with their English Premiership title run.

But it seems that he's left his heart in New York City.

Leicester's left back is in the Big Apple this week, holding his youth soccer camp ā€“ a partnership with former Seattle Sounders goalkeeper Michael Gspurning called Fox Soccer Academy ā€“ at the Frederick Douglass Playground on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. And not only did he team up with the New York City Housing Authority to award full scholarships to his camp to five children living in public housing, he dropped a hint about a future career move stateside.

Fuchs' wife Raluca Gold-Fuchs lives and works in New York along with their two young children, and while he elected to undergo a long-distance lifestyle when he joined Leicester, he's eager to move to Gotham when his current contract expires.

ā€œI'm not living here permanently at the moment, but two years from now New York will be my home, and I see it as my home already because my family is living here," Fuchs told Patch.com, adding that he plans to continue his professional career in New York.

It's a little early to prognosticate about the 2018 transfer window. But Fuchs' remarks would suggest that NYCFC, the Red Bulls or perhaps the Cosmos may have a battle-tested left back dropping into their lap in two summers' time.

Then again, Fuchs previously announced his interest in an even more unlikely American chapter: becoming an NFL kicker.
