American Family Insurance to be Atlanta United's first jersey sponsor

With Atlanta United FC set to kick off their inaugural MLS season in 2017, the team's kit design is coming together.

The club announced on Tuesday they have struck a multi-year partnership with American Family Insurance to feature on the first team's jerseys and training gear. It is the first MLS jersey sponsorship for the Madison, Wisconsin-based company, which also sponsors four NFL teams and counts the likes of Derek Jeter, J.J. Watt and Kevin Durant among its stable of ambassadors.

“Today’s announcement marks another major defining moment for our club,” said Atlanta United president Darren Eales in a statement. “It’s a partnership that works on many levels including similar organizational values and a strong commitment to community. We look forward to introducing the American Family Insurance brand to MLS and global soccer audiences.”

Atlanta United will reveal their first official kit and training apparel, featuring the American Family Insurance logo, later this year.

In addition, the team and company will work jointly on a tryout tour throughout the Southeast, seeking players to potentially play for Atlanta United's first team. There will be a total of four events in the American Family Insurance Dream Tryout Tour with the first one set for July 23.
