It's scant consolation for slumping Orlando City and now-former coach Adrian Heath, but goalkeeper Joe Bendik has won the Week 17 Save of the Week vote for his point-blank denial of Walker Zimmerman at Toyota Stadium on Independence Day.
The Lions' 4-0 humbling at the hands of FC Dallas would've been even more one-sided were it not for Bendik, as Zimmerman soared above a static Orlando defense on a corner kick to thump a downward header on target. The FCD center back's close proximity left Bendik with no time to react, but he was in proper position and the ball caromed off his left hand and out of play.
Bendik's play defeated saves from Brad Knighton, Tim Melia and Andre Blake en route to this week's top spot.
