Kick Off: MLS back on Univision with Cali Clasico | USA go for Copa bronze

Here are the top soccer stories everyone’s talking about this morning:

Cali Clasico on Univision

It's the highlight of the MLS weekend slate: The first league match broadcast on the Univision flagship since 1999 featuring an MLS Heineken Rivalry Edición Especial clash between the LA Galaxy and San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night (10 pm ET on Univision in USA; MLS LIVE in Canada). The Galaxy have won just one game in Northern California in their last 12 tries and they'll need Steven Gerrard to produce in order to pull it off again.

One Thing Left To Do

Just before the Cali Clasico, and also on Univision, the US national team will end their Copa America Centenario odyssey with the bronze-medal bout against Colombia (8 pm ET on FX, Univision, UDN). Manager Jurgen Klinsmann shouldn't have any distractions for this group stage match-up, as EPL side Southampton have stated that he is not in the running for their vacant top job.

Copa Success

As the Copa America draws to a close and we begin to look back at what it leaves behind, there's one unassailable fact: The Copa America Centenario held in the USA has turned out to be the most successful edition in the tournament's history. And that's still with two matches left to be played.

Election Season

The latest check on AT&T MLS All-Star Game voting shows that San Jose goal ace Chris Wondolowski has moved into a position to make the provisional starting lineup.

Morris Chestnuts

MLS Insider has a revealing Jordan Morris feature up as the Seattle rookie and his teammates get set to "welcome" NYCFC to town on Saturday afternoon (5 pm ET on ESPN in USA; MLS LIVE in Canada).

Montreal Movement

Calen Carr debuted his new series exploring soccer culture, called "The Movement," beginning with the scene in Montreal. That's where the Impact will be hosting Sporting KC on Saturday (7:30 pm ET on MLS LIVE) with the hope of climbing as high as second in the East.

Nature Of The Beast

Ahead of Orlando City's home tilt with Toronto FC on Saturday (7:30 pm ET on MLS LIVE), new Lions ace Julio Baptista submitted to a Q&A session. During the interview, he identified four teammates not named Cyle Larin that he feels have exceptional potential.

Shorthanded Crew

The surprising malaria diagnosis given to Columbus winger Cedrick Mabwati upon his return from Congo international duty will impact his club ahead of Saturday's visit from the Red Bulls (7:30 pm ET on MLS LIVE). But it won't be long before Gregg Berhalter's club will be making some moves.

Double Vision

New England defender Jose Goncalves may have his main focus on Saturday's trip to face D.C. United (7 pm ET on MLS LIVE), but he's also playing close attention to the Euro 2016 exploits of Portugal -- another team he hopes to suit up for someday.

Go To Your Room!

One D.C. United mainstay who won't be involved in that game is Bobby Boswell, who was handed a one-game ban.

Not Done Yet

While he's currently busy cheering on his international teammates from afar, Pachuca's US defender Omar Gonzalez has made it very clear he wants back in the side for upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Hot Topic

An English report says several teams are hovering around Reading and US midfielder Danny Williams, including EPL sides Newcastle, Sunderland and previously linked Swansea City.

A Future Catch

Chelsea netminder (and former Canada youth international) Asmir Begovic is the latest European star to admit he has eyes for an MLS move one day.

Guidance Counselor

Longtime MLS defender James Riley has joined the league office, where he handles a variety of player issues.
