Copa America Centenario announced the officials for Tuesday's USA vs. Argentina semifinal and the man in the middle has not been a stranger to controversy in this tournament.
Referee Enrique Caceres handed out two red cards in his only match during Copa America, which came in the Mexico-Uruguay group stage matchup. Matias Vecino was shown a second yellow, while Andres Guardado saw a controversial second yellow of his own. Uruguay also were upset after the match with the referee and assistant referee after they felt Rafael Marquez handled the ball before his game-winning goal.
Caceres will be joined by fellow Paraguayans Eduardo Cardozo and Milciades Saldivar. Ecuadorian Roddy Zambrano will serve as the fourth official.
In addition to officiating the Mexico-Uruguay contest, Caceres also served as the fourth official for Peru's 1-0 win against Brazil.
An experienced referee in the Paraguayan league, Copa Libertadores and on the South American international circuit, Caceres officiated three games in last year's Under-17 World Cup, including the US' 2-2 draw against Croatia. This will be his first match featuring the USMNT.
