Kick Off: Records, hat tricks and a Didier Drogba winner highlight Week 13

Here are the top soccer stories everyone’s talking about this morning:

Dropped Points

In the aftermath of settling for a 2-2 draw with Orlando City on Sunday, New York City FC were left to rue squandering a two-goal lead at home. The Lions' equalizer of course came in dramatic fashion, courtesy of a 94th-minute goal by Kevin Molino, who's on a hot streak.

Record Day

Bradley-Wright Phillips set a new MLS record with his hat trick in a 3-0 defeat of Toronto FC. Meanwhile, Armchair Analyst Matt Doyle suggests the name of RBNY's Sacha Kljestan on the list of leading MVP candidates.

Ouch!

It wasn't just any defeat for Toronto FC; they also watched reigning MLS MVP Sebastian Giovinco hobble off with an injury.

Another Trick-Ster

Wright-Phillips wasn't the only one collecting hats this weekend, as Crew SC newcomer Ola Kamara bagged three goals in a wild win over Real Salt Lake.

Didier? He did.

After firing Montreal to victory over the LA Galaxy, Impact star Didier Drogba hailed the win as important to the club.

Challenge Draw

After posting a 1-1 share at West-leading Colorado, Philadelphia Union boss Jim Curtin called it a gut-check result for his maturing side after they scored in the 92nd minute. The goal was good enough to keep the Union atop the East by a single point.

Fine By Us

What was FC Dallas' reaction to their scoreless draw at San Jose? Actually, they were quite content with the result.

Late Hero

Thanks to the sub heroics of rookie Femi Hollinger-Janzen, New England enjoyed a 2-1 win over Seattle on Saturday.

Debate Clubs

Following Saturday's 1-1 draw between Chicago and Portland, both coaches were left to debate over who deserved what.

Tuned Up

The US national team set off for Copa America by cruising past Bolivia on Saturday. Armchair Analyst Matt Doyle has renewed hope thanks to a Michael Bradley shift, while Alejandro Bedoya and Gyasi Zardes also shined to prove points of their own. All three of those players fared well in our USMNT player ratings

El Tri Targets?

Expansion franchise Atlanta United are reportedly chasing a pair of Mexico stars to be their first DP signings.

Messi Relief

Argentina fans are breathing easier after hearing news that Lionel Messi is recovering quickly from a knock and should be ready for their Copa America opener. Those hoping for another US-Argentina match-up at the tournament may want to take a stroll down memory lane back to 1995, when the Americans scored a crazy 3-0 win over the the Albiceleste.

Campeón!

Pachuca defender Omar Gonzalez celebrated the Liga MX crown after a late stoppage-time strike claimed the Clausura final against Edgar Castillo's Monterrey.

That'll Leave A Mark

Sporting KC didn't just drop a 1-0 home result against D.C. United on Friday night -- Alhaji Kamara scored the fastest-ever debut goal in MLS history -- but they also got their sky-cam pinged.
