Two of North America's favorite fast-break specialists will face off at the next “Showdown in Chinatown,” and the trash-talking has already begun.

Steve Nash's annual charity event is set to mark its ninth year, and this time Landon Donovan will lead the squad that faces off against the former NBA MVP's hand-picked team of sports stars and celebrities on a small-sided turf field at Sara D. Roosevelt Park in Manhattan.

With the beloved pickup soccer game now less than a month away, the LA Galaxy and US national team icon saw fit to pass along some good-natured smack via Instagram on Wednesday:

A passionate soccerphile whose brother Martin was a longtime Canadian international, Nash is a part owner of the Vancouver Whitecaps and is known to rub shoulders with MLS and international standouts. He also heads a foundation “dedicated to assisting underserved children in their health, personal development, education and enjoyment of life.”

Nash now spends most of his time in New York City, where the “Showdown” has become a summer tradition in the heart of the Lower East Sidethat gathers notables from two of the world's most popular sports for a good cause.

The 2016 edition is set for June 22, and while the full guest list hasn't been announced, a star-studded crowd is the norm, with past editions featuring the likes of Thierry Henry, Klay Thompson, Stu Holden, Grant Hill, Geoff Cameron, Luol Deng and many, many more. Admission is free to the public, but get there early: This is the place to be.
