Ottawa Fury brace for Vancouver Whitecaps in Amway Canadian Championship

For the first time in their three-year history, Ottawa Fury FC will face an MLS team.

Fresh off a 3-2 series win over FC Edmonton, the NASL club will take on Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the semifinals of the 2016 Amway Canadian Championship. It is the Fury's first time reaching the semifinal round of the competition.

The two-game semifinal series will be played on June 1 and June 8. Toronto FC and the Montreal Impact will square off in the other semifinal.

Ottawa are coming off a trip to the NASL title game last fall but they’ll naturally have their work cut out for them against a Vancouver team that won last year’s Canadian Championship and currently sits in third place in the loaded Western Conference.

The winner of this year’s tournament, as always, will book Canada’s lone spot in the CONCACAF Champions League.
