The Houston Dynamo bounced back from a rough midweek loss on Sunday, beating Real Salt Lake 1-0 at BBVA Compass Stadium.
The game, postponed to Sunday afternoon due to inclement weather on Saturday, was thoroughly controlled by the hosts, but through the first two-thirds of the match, it appeared the day would be marked by a plethora of missed opportunities and near misses by Houston.
But after seeing chance after chance go begging, the Dynamo found the breakthrough in the 65th minute, as Joe Willis' punt downfield bounced through a group of players, with Giles Barnes running onto the ball before taking it down and slotting it past Jeff Attinella.

Three Things
- QUICK RECOVERY: Houston came into their two-game week following a much-needed 2-0 win over Sporting KC, but the good vibes were extinguished, seemingly, on Wednesday in a sluggish 3-1 loss to San Jose. They can't erase the midweek result, but coming back home and grabbing another win may help them gain some positive momentum moving forward.
- TOOTHLESS ATTACK: RSL had all their big guns in the starting XI on Sunday, but they had absolutely nothing to show for it, as they did not notch a single shot on target in the game. Maybe it was just a blip, but it seems they've hit a rocky patch with two straight 1-0 losses.
- GAME CHANGER: For the second win in a row, Barnes popped up to score the winner for the Dynamo. Likely to be headed to the Copa America Centenario with Jamaica soon, Barnes' uptick in form may benefit both his club and country.
No nonsense from @HoustonDynamo. Calm finish from @GilesBarnesReal. #HOUvRSLhttps://t.co/VkyEjjPjqz
