Houston Dynamo forward Erick "Cubo" Torres has been called up to Mexico's Under-23 team for the upcoming Toulon Tournament, the Mexican Football Federation announced on Monday.

Torres participated in a training camp for the tournament last month, alongside FC Dallas goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez. Gonzalez, who left Saturday's game against Toronto FC with an injury, was not included in the roster for the Toulon Tournament, which will take place May 18-29 in and around Toulon, France. Players called up to the roster will head to Mexico City this week.

Mexico will play France, Czech Republic, Mali and Bulgaria in group play. Torres is one of two players not based in Mexico to get the call-up.

It will be Torres' second time going to the Toulon Tournament. The French youth tournament is considered one of the most prestigious in world soccer, and he helped Mexico to a fourth place finish in 2011. Mexico have won the tournament once, in 2012, as a warm up before taking the 2012 London Olympics gold medal.

Just as in 2012, this year's tournament is expected to be a tune-up for the Olympics, held this year in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The men's Olympic soccer tournament will be held Aug. 4-20.
