Exports: Aaron Schoenfeld scores hat-trick in Hapoel Tel Aviv victory

Aaron Schoenfeld is having himself quite a season in Israel.

Schoenfeld, a 26-year-old forward who previously played for Columbus Crew SC, scored the second hat-trick of his career on Saturday to lift Hapoel Tel Aviv to a 4-2 win over Bnei Yehuda. Schoenfeld started his day by scoring an equalizing penalty kick just before the half-hour mark, and then tied the game up again at 2-2 in the 58th minute with a header.

His next nodded effort proved to be the difference. With eight minutes left in the match, Schoenfeld drifted to the back post and connected with a cross from the right to give his side its first lead on the day and the full three points.

The 6-foot-4 striker, who previously recorded a hat-trick for USL outfit Dayton Dutch Lions in 2014, has netted eight times in 11 appearances for Hapoel Tel Aviv this season.

The Tennessee native spent four seasons in Columbus, scoring five goals and delivering three assists in 51 regular-season appearances.
