Christian Pulisic, Dortmund's US starlet, lands on Washington Post cover

Christian Pulisic - Borussia Dortmund - on the run with ball

It's not often you see a full feature about a soccer player, let alone a teenaged one, lead a major US newspaper's sports section. But the times could well be changing, as the country woke up on Tuesday morning staring at a photo of American starlet Christian Pulisic and potential Copa América Centenario call-up splashed across the front of the Washington Post's sports section.

The 17-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder has grabbed sizeable attention in soccer circles in the US and Germany, due to his defying expectations and becoming an important part of his club’s second-placed standing in the Bundesliga, but recognition by the Post places him even further in the mainstream consciousness.

The Post’s Stefan Bienkowski takes a look at Pulisic’s ascent from a six-year-old in youth teams in Pennsylvania to his current position at Dortmund. Considering that he is in contention to play in this summer's Copa América after being named to the 40-man preliminary roster for the US, the feature is definitely a must-read for all American soccer fans.
