Denver area hit by snowstorm ahead of Colorado Rapids-New York Red Bulls

Jermaine Jones - 2013 USA - SnowClasico

Colorado is known for its snow ā€“ and it appears the state is living up to that reputation.

The Denver was hit by a snowstorm on Friday night and it is expected to continue throughout the night, which looked like it might cause some trouble for the game between the Rapids and New York Red Bulls, scheduled to kick off at 9 pm ET.

The Rapids, who have offered an exchange to any season-ticket member unable to attend, are providing updates on the situation on their site and social mediaplatforms so be sure to monitor those communications ahead of the game:

If you are planning on attending the game be sure to check travel details here before leaving the house.

Of course, this would not be the first game played in the snow at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The US national team famously played a game in the snow against Costa Rica in a FIFA World Cup qualifying game back in March 2013. Jermaine Jones, who is likely to make his Rapids debut Saturday, featured for the US as they defeated Los Ticos 1-0.
