Jesse Gonzalez, Cubo Torres make roster for Mexico's Olympic prep

Jesse Gonzalez - FC Dallas - Close up

In preparations for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro this summer, Mexico coach Raúl Gutiérrez has called in 26 players, including a pair of MLS players, for a training camp ahead of the Toulon Tournament.

Striker Erick “Cubo” Torres of the Houston Dynamo and goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez have been called in for the camp, which begins Sunday and goes until Wednesday. The Toulon Tournament will run May 18-29 this year -- Mexico won the 2012 edition of the prestigious youth competition.

Gonazlez started FC Dallas’ first three games this season but lately has fallen behind goalkeeper Chris Seitz in the team’s pecking order.

Torres has only played five minutes for the Dynamo this season and is trying to work his way back into the Dynamo’s plans.
